What an incredible voice. Mr Doremus began this style of late night radio on WMAQ Chicago and syndicated on the BIG stations. He also 'invented' in flight music.

The American Forces Radio and Television service touched a lot of people. Whether talent, support or listeners it touched a lot of us in ways that stateside media could only dream of. It was more than just the radio, it was home. Each of us have a piece of what it meant. Together it tells a story. Thank you for your contributions. Sometimes it's audio, pictures or memorabilia. This can be a good place to share it. What was your story? If you find this rewarding, please tell a friend.

I wonder if John Doremus really knew how many of us he inspired and educated.
We were a 'new phenomena'- a whole generation of young ears, holding that
little Transistor Radio to our ears. Learning what Music really is - from
a Master! We owe Mr. Doremus a lot.
And there are probably millions of us who were lucky enough to hear that
wonderful soothing voice. And it wasn't just good music....
It was GREAT MUSIC. Music to inspire and make you dream. Music that was
the best of the best known in one man's life-time. The best songs, woven
into a musical tapestry around a word, a thought.
But if his 'theme' was for example 'Blue'.
John Doremus brought to bear every song that was 'blue'; and picked out
the very best, most wonderful version of it that was available to
civilized man. The best song, the best orchestra or band, the best
version of theirs and all with the best 'blue' flow of blended sounds that
I ever remember hearing.
-All those summer nights of my young life...sitting looking at the stars
near Naperville. I only wished that I had gotten to personally thank Mr.
Doremus for all that he and his great programing meant to me - to us.
We grew into a nation of young rebels, and created a whole new type of
music that would endure. But it was never the same. Never the hallowed
Songs of our Fathers, like John let us see. -How I would've liked to have
thanked him!

We are working on solving important environmental problems, using Music
and the Arts to creatively collaborate on educating the next generation
about positive solutions.
We're going to to it with Music and Movies and support from people like
Jackson Browne, Ani DiFranco, Victor Wooten...and dear Mr. Pete Seeger,
-to whom we are 'Dedicating' our first film project...a Story "The Last
Salmon" in need of telling, to enlist the hearts of young and old into
demanding that federal fisheries do 'Everything possible' to Save the
Salmon of our Pacific Northwest.
You can sign our Petition to DC, and find out about the Collaborative
'Soundtrack'CD you can order online, a wonderful compilation of many
talented artists who want to help save the Salmon from Extinction.
Well, here's my tribute to Mr. Doremus. He has my undying gratitude; and
I'm pleased to say that the musical magic he wove into our lives, now will
be enlisted to help all of us, face the future. All thanks to 'The Power
of Music'!
