Wolfman Summer 1980

Over a hundred degrees here in Minnesota. I think it's safe to say that summer's here. Let's howl with the Wolfman. It's another great broadcast that's been unheard for 30 years and it's really good.

Roger Carroll for the USAF part four

RC, that's he!  Roger was with the network for three decades and always did some wonderful radio.
1974, let's find out about the Air Force.

19 Years Of HIt Music part two

For New Year 1975, the network sent out a 19 hour special of pop musics greatest hits.  This was produced at FEN in the Philippines.  Part of the crew that put it together: Gene Pickett, Rich Clements, Charlie Kaplan, Ron Joyce, Wayne Day, Fred Miles Watson.  Sounds like the whole station was involved in putting together a countdown show.  Do you have an email address for any of those guys?

Goodbye AFN Okinawa

It's official...after 55 years of telecasting on TV channel 8, AFN-Okinawa (formerly AFRT/FEN-Okinawa) ceased broadcasting at 1030am JST, June 30 (630pm PST, June 29).

Thank you Jon Yim

AFVN News, 1973 with Robert Morecook and Gerry Elliott

Nowadays Bob leads the AFVN group at yahoo. Gerry I worked with at SCN in Panama. I heard later he ended up at Ft Lewis. What happened after that?

19 years of Hit Music

This made more questions than it answered.  The reel was from the Thailand network, labeled that it was recorded at the Philippines network.  From the sound of the tag at the end of the hour, this series was sent out by AFRTS to all of the stations.  Cool presentation.

AFKN Happy New Year 1970

This is fun, from Yongsan, Roger Schulman plays the greatest hits of the 50s and 60s all the way to 1970. Roger went on to great radio things in Tampa radio.

Chris Noel

This is the latest addition to the collection.  It's easy to get one of your own.  Chris sells autographed photos with the proceeds benefiting her veterans homeless shelter.  It's a great thing to have up on the wall and the money benefits a good cause.

There's a bunch of different photos available.

Let's remember Chris:

Charlie Tuna 1980

The Breakfast Serial continues.  Thanks Charlie for letting me make this available.  It's time for another visit with the biggest Tuna of all.  1980, the music pretty darn good.  Recording has a large piece of an AFN newscast at the end.

Panama 1955-56

Over the last few weeks, I've been exchanging emails with Gary Hannes.  Gary was a 1955/56 veteran of CFN (Panama Canal Zone).  It's a really interesting look at how the network was put together and the introduction of television in the Canal Zone.
