Let's take a look at the greatest hits of 1975 with AFN and Roger Williams.

Charlie Tuna 1982
Charlie Tuna 1969
Charlie was with us from the Vietnam years until 1996. Easy to tell how he was a morning tradition for such a long time.

Jim Pewter 1992
(Picture - Laurie Allen) Transmitter site of Iraklion Radio Transmitter site, Crete, 1992 Station Manager Msgt Scott Kirby (who, but I didn't know this at the time, was going to my future husband), Ssgt Kevin Renshaw, Laurie Allen, Jim Pewter
This is fun, Laurie Allen and Jim Pewter musing about the great music of the 1960s and 70s.
This is one of my favorites. Jim had been playing our music for three decades. Laurie was helping out.
Joe Allison 1969
Joe Allison really was country music, starting as a DJ in Texas in 1945. He went on tour hosting Tex Ritter and got Tex to record one of his songs. From there, Nashville radio until going to a station in Pasadena CA. Penning "He'll Have To Go". Later to run the country department of Dot Records. Starting in the mid 60s Joe was recording the Country Corner for AFRTS.

Roger Carroll 1972
Roger with Johnny Magnus (who's the other guy?)
I sure wish I had both parts of every show, but every 27 minutes has it's magic. This is part two of a 1972 RC get together. Always smooth. Take a listen.

Sound Off 1942
I've only seen a handful of these. Prior to AFRS, Special Services recorded shows on 12" disks to be used with a record player, generally in whatever passed as a Mess Hall or Rec Center as the troops were battling on the ground.
Sound Off continued with the newly formed AFRS. Here's Harry VonZell

AFVN Pat Sajack 1968
Patrick Leonard Sajdak
Pat Sajak was one of the bigger stars that went through the network. Pat won a contest to be a disk jockey on the WLS Dick Biondi show, after that news at WEDC. Then the army beckoned. After a few months as a finance clerk, he was the morning star at AFVN. By the early 1970s he was jocking at flamethrower WSM Nashville and bigger and brighter things.

Jingles the Voice of Home 1967
I loved this jingle package. I was playing it before gold at SCN in the 1980s. I've been looking for it for years and it turned up on the end of a production reel from AFKN in the 1960s.
Johnnie Darrin 1973
And yes, they spelled his name wrong.
Talk about someone who's worked everywhere, it's Johnnie Darrin. KIIS; KRLA, 1968-71; KDAY, 1971; KROQ, 1972-73; KNAC, 1975; KGOE, 1975; KNX, 1976; KGIL, 1976-83; KJOI, 1978; KBLA, 1989-92; KGIL, 1993; KFWB, 1998-2008.
Jim Pewter 1968
Nice work if you can get it. (courtesy and copyright of Playground Productions)
In 1967 Jim was managing Forever Records. They put out a two record set to benefit the USO. "Jim Pewter Salutes the USO Shows with 21 Hits From The Past" I've got to pick up a copy. Jim shared this original artwork picture with 21 teen models in Pasadena.

AFKN Ed Tooma 1980
Ed Tooma has some memories of 1980 "I kept some of my old airchecks which are all telescoped from my days at AFKN 80-81. I was the NCOIC of Network Radio at that time and the CO was LTC Pete Barrett. I was stationed there when (we lost) Ed Masters. He was the civilian boss under the commander."

Gene Price 1980
Gene wrote a holiday book for kids of all ages, it's a nice read and great for holiday giving.
Gene Price is back with your kind of country. It's memories of 1980 on AFRTS
Collectors Corner 1968
AFRTS was the introduction for a lot of troops to classical music. In 1968 the University Of Virginia was producing Collectors Corner with rare performances from around the world. Here's Rod Collins.
