Andy Mansfield 1964

It wasn't really a big band show, it was the oldies from 20-30 years prior. Andy Mansfield did "Turn Back the Clock" with his wife Virginia in the 50s. In the 1960s it had become America's Popular Music. (in the picture, Andy Mansfield, Kay Starr and a REALLY big microphone)

Wolfman Jack Christmas 1975
It's 1975 and the Wolf brings in the holiday. Christmas week the AFRTS network talent did a week of Christmas shows. Rare when it wasn't week 48-x did they ever play songs of the holiday season. It was too unpredictable when the shows would be aired. The Christmas week shows went out 3 or 4 weeks before Christmas week so we'd be ready to go.

Kinda hard to do a show when the only thing you really know is what day it is. The ETs could be aired at noon or midnight. Could be a hurricane or a drought. These guys did great. It's a Monday in 1967 and Chris Noel is the Voice of Home...

Pete Smith 1993
Pete Smith has your easy favorites, with great stories. "Sketches in Sound". Roger Carroll told me Pete had a pretty incredible day job. KMPC had him as full-time standby. Fulltime check for just being able to cover any shift. I don't think that's done anymore.
