Jim Pewter 1992

(Picture - Laurie Allen) Transmitter site of Iraklion Radio Transmitter site, Crete, 1992 Station Manager Msgt Scott Kirby (who, but I didn't know this at the time, was going to my future husband), Ssgt Kevin Renshaw, Laurie Allen, Jim Pewter

This is fun, Laurie Allen and Jim Pewter musing about the great music of the 1960s and 70s.

This is one of my favorites.  Jim had been playing our music for three decades.  Laurie was helping out.

Jim Pewter and Laurie Allen -Valentines 1993

Jim and Laurie on tour

In 1993 Jim and Laurie Allen did a Valentine Day special "Hooked on a Feeling".  Jim says him and Laurie did about five of these specials.  They started working on them after they returned from Europe in 1992.  The music was their choice and the they had a great time producing, writing and recording the shows.  Here's Part one:

Laurie Allen 1996

Haven't had the chance to present Laurie Allen yet. These are great. Laurie's another Minnesotan, like Jim Pewter and Ira Cook she was a LA radio star. KIIS, 1982; KNX/fm, 1983-84; KMGG, 1984-86; KPWR, 1986-94; KKGO, 2008-10. For 11 years, Laurie worked at the Bright AC format at Dial-Global (Westwood One Radio Networks) until late 2008. She does weekends at KKGO, "Go Country."

Laurie played a lot of great gold from the 70s and 80s.

Laurie's trek began in Morris, Minnesota.  Then it was a journey through the Midwest.  California called then San Francisco and Los Angeles and AFRTS.  Laurie can be heard now on Go Country 105 an in syndication over Dial Global.

Laurie Allen 1996

Laurie fell in love with radio at age 7 when she toured her hometown station in Morris, Minnesota. The resulting radio career began while in high school, working “up and down the dial” at stations in Omaha, St. Louis and San Francisco before finally coming 'home' to Los Angeles to hold down 7p-12p at KIIS-FM, on to KNX-FM, Magic 106, Power 106, Armed Forces Radio and most recently, in syndication at Dial Global Radio Network. She joined the family at GoCountry in December of 2008. Off hours, Laurie loves hiking, cooking and pursuing her hobby of collecting coffee stains in the shapes of celebrities.
