Jim Pewter 1967

AFKN vet Jim Pewter checks in periodically and it's always great.  We went to different schools together!  Jim had a lot to do with some of the greatest music.

Jim Pewter 1967

Neil found us a bunch of late 60s Jim Pewter shows.  I'm very happy about that.  When you see something that might be interesting for all of us, drop me a note afrts@live.com

Jim was an AFKN vet who shaped the world of music, his command of the oldies inspired a lot of people.  It's December 1967 "Let's Go"

Chris Noel 1967

Chris did one of the most popular shows ever.  A pretty girl, great music and caring.  She brought "home" everywhere.

John Doremus 1967

The theme is songs about movement, a seemingly straightforward idea. John would skillfully blend these songs with poetry and concepts. His shows gained popularity nationwide, particularly with major airlines, where he pioneered the production of in-flight music. A truly remarkable talent.

John Doremus 1967

Must be the dinner hour.  John Doremus would create a mood.  There were few who could really do this.  John was also the one that came up with the idea for music on your airplane rides.  Amazing talent.

Jim Pewter 1967

When we ask enough, there are answers. Mike Brown checked in to say that Jim Pewter worked at Radio Cavalier in the 1964-65 timeframe. By 1967 Jim was doing the AFRTS-LA show. Something I hadn't heard was that Jim worked at the station with the late Richard Nader. Nader was responsible for the big oldies rock and roll shows in the 1970s

Herman Griffith kicked up a storm, with KGFJ and with AFRTS.  I wish I knew more of his story.  Roland Bynum says that Herman helped him get his job with us.

Chris Noel 1967

In 1967, the biggest show was "A Date With Chris".  Chris Noel brought a helping of home every day.  She still does way more than her share with her veterans shelter in Florida.  Please do what you can to help.  Click here.

Roger Carroll 1967

Roger enlisted during the Korean War and ended up at the network as an announcer.  Perfect place as he was an ABC network announcer.  Shortly after the war he was doing the Roger Carroll Show until well into the early 80s.  Super talent and a great guy.  Let's remember 1967

Chris Noel 1967

A pretty girl, nice music and Chris Noel was perfect for this.  During the Vietnam war Chris did "A Date With Chris".  In 1967, this was the third week of the broadcast and it starts to fall in place.

Bill Stewart 1967

Today Bill Stewart's guest is Rudy Vallee.  Rudy was the biggest of the big in the 1920s and kept going for five decades.  It's a fun listen.
