Jubilee 1943

 I certainly wish I had both parts of this.  In 1943, Art Tatum, Billie Holiday, Red Allen and an All-Star cast were part of Jubilee.

NBC Studios in Hollywood, and dubbed March 22. The broadcast took place on April 9 or 10, as they were normally transmitted on a Friday night.

It's Christmas 1948.  Bud Widdom with some amazing talent, it's Jubilee!!!

Jubilee. Program #302. 12/0/1948. A Christmas show with all the continuity in rhyme. Well done! The first tune is, "The Peanut Vendor." Kay Starr sings, "Ain't Misbehavin'." This sounds like an assembled program. Bud Widdom (announcer), Stan Kenton and His Orchestra, Toni Harper, Lionel Hampton and His Orchestra, Kay Starr, Benny Goodman and His Orchestra, Dizzy Gillespie.

I normally don't bother with "split" shows but Jubilee is always special.  In late 1942 we recorded the (Nat) King Cole trio, Mantan Moreland with wonderful comedy, Judy Carroll and Noble Sissle. Supporting the troops should always be this good.

 I've never heard one of these without wonderful music. 

The first tune is, "Blowing The Blues Away." The All-American Quintet consists of Les Paul, Sid Cattlet, Vic Dickenson, Willie Smith, and Eddie Heywood (obviously a great group). Archie, Eddie the waiter and Clifton Finnegan visit from "Duffy's Tavern." The program was previously released as program #119. Billy Eckstine and His Orchestra, The All-American Quintet, Lena Horne, Ed Gardner, Charlie Cantor, Eddie Green, Les Paul, Vic Dickenson, Willie Smith (alto), Eddie Heywood (piano), Sid Catlett (drums), Ernest Whitman (m. c.), Verne Smith (announcer).

When I was a boy DJ, I had Count Basie on the show.  Incredible person with a power from within.  He did a lot for the troops during WWII, part of that was Jubilee

Here's the first Jubilee show.  I've never heard one of these that didn't have amazing music.

Rex Ingram is the host.  The program was recorded at a small studio in Hollywood in October 1942 with Duke Ellington, Ethyl Waters and Eddie "Rochester" Anderson
