Polka Party 1968

 

Dick Sinclair was in the first class of AFRS talent during WWII.  He later served with the Mosquito Network on Guadacanal.  When he came back he had a big career, mostly hosting polkas.  In the 50s and 60s that really was a huge deal.

Dick was doing Polka Party starting in the 1950s and AFRTS picked it up.  We were running the show well into the 1960s

Dick Sinclair 1961

 Dick Sinclair has a special piece in AFRTS history.  He was in the first group of broadcasters to train at Fox Movie Studio for the new network.  During WWII he has at the Guadalcanal station.  After the war he was "Polka Party" on both radio and television for many years.

Dick Sinclair 1959

 Dick Sinclair was in the very first group of AFRS talent.  Before we even had a network, this group was training at Fox studios.  Dick was at the station on Guadalcanal.

After the war, Dick Sinclair helped to make polka a national joy.  Polka Party was heard on hundreds of stations and made the jump to TV.

Dick Sinclair was one of our first jocks.  He was in that first class at Fox Film studios in 1943, went to the Mosquito Network.  When he got back he made polka music incredibly popular, a syndicated radio show, several TV shows.  He loved his work.  By the 1950s Polka Party was on AFRTS and continued through the late 1960s.

Dick Sinclair 1925-2016

The world has lost a wonderful person. Dick Sinclair passed away on October 14, 2016 at the age of 91. He lived polkas and for 6 decades kept the Polka Party on the air.  In the 1950s and 60s Polka Party ran on AFRTS.  Dick's real claim to fame for us would be he was in the first class off WWII broadcasters, training at Fox Studios for the brand new AFRS.  Dick did his WWII time at the station on Guadalcanal.  I really wish I had had a chance to speak with him,  We've lost a piece of history and a great broadcaster,

Polka Party - 1967

By the 1950s, Polka was a link to home for European families in the United States.  Even today sometimes a polka show will come on on the radio or usually cable access TV, but in the 50s and 60s Dick Sinclair was the voice of the polka.  Dick was one of the first AFRS jocks in the pacific and after the war went to Los Angeles, created very successful polka radio and television shows that were syndicated from coast to coast.  These shows were picked up by AFRTS.

You can still find the occasional polka radio show, but in the 1950s and 1960s Dick Sinclair was the voice of polka, with syndicated radio and television shows everywhere.  Dick was also one of the first AFRS jocks, during WWII at the Guadalcanal station.
