Jim Ameche 1961
Jim Ameche had two shows in the early 1960s, The Jim Ameche Show and Pop Concert. Both programs had the best in orchestral music.
Jim was one of the first to figure out how to successfully syndicate a DJ show.

Ira Cook 1961
Ira was a disc jockey in Hollywood for over 25 years working at KMPC the majority of the time. He also broadcast over the Armed Forces Radio Services. We lost Ira in 2007.

Ira Cook 1961
In the early 1960s, they weren't really recording at McCadden. Recordings were done at the stations, usually but it was haphazard. Here's Ira Cook recorded at KMPC in 1961.
IRA LEIGH COOK Passed away on May 15, 2007 at the age of 90. Ira was a disc jockey in Hollywood for over 25 years working at KMPC the majority of the time. He also broadcast over the Armed Forces Radio Services. He was a beloved husband of Virginia for 58 years who predeceased him.

Johnny Bond 1961
Johnny's career started in the late 1930s with Jimmy Wakely and after that joining Gene Autry. His biggest hit was in 1965 with "Ten Little Bottles" but he had the big seller on this one:

Could This Be You? 1961
Beginning in the 1950s, KVI Seattle produced an intriguing show called "Could This Be You?" which aired on the Golden West stations and later on Mutual.
The program featured live recordings of people being pulled over and served as a precursor to shows like "Highway Patrol" and "Cops."
It was an impressive example of educational radio, making it ideal for AFRTS.

Johnny Bond 1961
We had a lot of cowboys, both Jimmy Wakely and Johnny Bonds did country shows for the network before Joe Allison and the Country Corner. Jimmy was backup talent for Gene Autry and was a frequent guest at the Melody Ranch. Johnny had a long successful recording career. His greatest hit was "Ten Little Bottles" Here's Johnny in a 1961 show.

Chuck Cecil 1961
In the late 1950s Chuck Cecil was doing an oldies show on KFI. "The Swingin' Years" spotlighted the hits of the 30s and 40s. It was picked up by AFRTS and was still running well into the 1980s. Chuck was still doing the show in 2010s on a public station in Los Angeles although he was retired. Quite a run, a bit of fun, The swingin' years...

Johnny Bond 1961
From when they called it "folk music" here's a 1961 visit with Johnny Bond
He got his first break working for Jimmy Wakely in the late 1930s and went on to join Gene Autry's Melody Ranch in 1940. He also acted on occasion in films including Wilson and Duel in the Sun; and was later a regular on the 1950s Los Angeles country music television series Town Hall Party.
He is best known for his 1947 hit "Divorce Me C.O.D.", one of his seven top ten hits on the Billboard country charts. In 1965 at age 50 he scored the biggest hit of his career with the comic "Ten Little Bottles", which spent four weeks at No. 2. Bond's other hits include "So Round, So Firm, So Fully Packed" (1947), "Oklahoma Waltz" (1948), "Love Song in 32 Bars" (1950), "Sick Sober and Sorry" (1951) and "Hot Rod Lincoln" (1960).
He died of a stroke in 1978, at the age of 63. Bond was elected to the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1999, and to the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame. (wikipedia).
