Joe Allison was a songwriter, performer, record company executive and a DJ.  Joe came along around the time of "Modern Country" and was responsible for modernizing "Hillbilly" radio.  It was great.  I just remastered this, enjoy.

We ran "old time" radio well into the 1980s.  There were places where we didn't have television.  Sometimes it was classic.  Suspense was classic.

Enchantment of Music - 1963

The matchless fidelity of Frequency Modulation.  FM was almost magic.  KCBH-FM in Beverly Hills was programming light orchestral music.  It was a time when few if any were actally making money with FM. Seems odd...  In 1959 Don Steele was there.  We ran the show, but very rarely on FM.

Now IHeart owns it "Alt 98.7" just doesn't seem as special.

"Freedom Sings" was presented by the Freedoms Foundation in Valley Forge for decades.  It was a natural for AFRTS "The Presidents Own" Marine Band and inspiring stories.  Really well done.

The Army Hour - 1963 "Korea, A Decade of Courage"

AFKN was an Army "Meritorious Unit".  Everyone was authorized an additional ribbon while there.  The ribbon was authorized because of the war coverage.  Troops went to the field with huge tube powered recorders.  I've heard short clips of this before but this is the most complete version that I've ever heard.

The Army Hour was on NBC during WWII, ending up on Mutual by the 1960s.
