Frank Bresee recorded the last network show under the old system.  GDOR was a celebration of all things radio in the 1930s, 40s and 50s.  Frank started the show with AFRTS in 1967 and was the last to be recorded for the 1996 changeover.

The Golden Days of Radio ran almost as long as AFRTS itself. It was the last program recorded for the network under the 'old system'. Mr Bresse was a storehouse of information about radio in the 1940s and 50s. It was always fun to hear.

In 1968 Frank Bresee started doing the Golden Days of Radio.  Frank had been a radio star in the 1940s and brought back the memories. The show was most often a potpourri of the best of radio.  Radio dramas and comedy were on AFRTS for many many years.  We still had multiple places with no television station.

Frank Bresee was "Little Beaver" on the Red Ryder show in the 1940s. He started recording the Golden Days of Radio for AFRTS in 1967, he was there until the changeover in 1995. He's in the process of making them available again.  More information about that project when it's available.

Golden Days Of Radio - 1968

Starting in 1968 Frank Bresee celebrated the Golden Days Of Radio.  The last network shows had just went off the air in 1962.  Frank managed to keep the show on AFRTS until 1996.  One pretty amazing accomplishment.  Old time radio was a win in a lot of places.  Many countries didn't have television.  Many of our television stations had severe restrictions in the programming they could show. This show is very early in the run.  Next, the Golden Days of Radio!

Golden Days Of Radio - 1969

Frank Bresee started doing the Golden Days of Radio show in 1968.  "Network Radio" had stopped in 1962 with the last of the big shows going off of the air so the memories were fairly recent.  Frank had the biggest moments of radio from the 1930s-50s and kept that going until 1996, making the last recrorded show for AFRTS-LA.  They are in the process of digitizing all of the shows to make them available online.  When I have more information, I'll be passing it along.

I am Frank Bresee's producer on the Yesterday USA Radio networks.  Frank was on AFRTS from 1965 to 1994 with his Golden Days of Radio show.  Roger Carroll mentioned you to Frank and I am dropping you a note.  Frank is still on the air with me on Friday night at 7-30 Pm West coast and his Golden Days Radio show is heard during the week at different times on our networks at www.yesterdayusa.com

Frank Bresee update

Good news from Roger Carroll.  Frank Bresee had a stroke a while back.  Rehab is going so well that he will be vacationing in England.

  In the late 1960s and early 70s, Frank Bresee would stop by Roger's KMPC show and share memories of the Golden Days of Radio.  Here are a couple of visits.  Thanks RC!
