Jim had knocked around in radio since the 1930s but hit his stride with syndicated DJ shows starting in the 1950s. As the man that made syndicated DJ shows work he was a natural for the world's largest radio network.

Jim Ameche was known for his soothing sounds, hosting a high-profile easy listening show. His career began in 1930s radio, portraying the original "Jack Armstrong, the All-American Boy." After his brother Don Ameche departed from the Chase and Sanborn Show, Jim took over as the announcer, enjoying numerous successes during the Golden Age of Radio. By the 1950s, he had become a successful DJ in Los Angeles and New York, eventually syndicating his show nationwide. It was also during this period that he signed with AFRTS, continuing his career into the 1960s. Jim passed away in 1983.

I remember the "beautiful music" of orchestral arrangements, particularly those of pop songs from the 1930s to the 1960s. This music was once the backdrop of grocery stores. The AFRTS has a tradition of broadcasting such music, dating back to WWII. In the 1960s, Jim Ameche took up this legacy. A prominent radio star during the "Golden Days of Radio," Jim pioneered the national syndication of a DJ show.

Among the finest orchestra libraries, they offer the best sounds around. Easy Listening music, once performed by large orchestras, is a genre we seldom hear today. AFRTS maintained a longstanding tradition of this music from its inception. Jim Ameche, brother of Don, pioneered the nationally syndicated DJ show in the 1950s, setting the stage for successors like John Doremus and Pete Smith. Come dinnertime, after a long and arduous day, it's time to unwind with some easy favorites.
